The Bushmen of Botswana
In Botswana, Africa indigenous people called Bushmen live in poverty and strife. In the early 1980s a large diamond deposit was found on the Bushmen's land and soon after, the government told the inhabitants that they would have to leave the reserve. After 2005 nearly all Bushmen had been cleared of the reserve and their water supply destroyed. They lived on resettlement camps installed by the government and weren’t allowed to hunt and had to rely on government handouts for food. Gripped with boredom, alcoholism, depression and illnesses like TB and HIV, the bushmen took action. They took the government to court on claims of unjust clearing of peoples and won. They were sent back to the home and tried to continue their lives but the government has made it all but easy to go back home, with the destroyed water supply, and new tourist company traversing on their land. The Bushmen aren't even able to hunt enough to provide for themselves without getting thrown in jail or killed because of a government "law". While the Bushmen are struggling to find enough water to live, guests at a nearby hotel sip cocktails and take a dip in the pool.
